In 1981, Lyeth Estate was founded in Sonoma County by Chip Lyeth. After having traveled through Bordeaux in the late 1970s, Chip came to believe what the Bordelais had known for centuries: that through blending, you could create a beautiful, distinctive wine, with unique characteristics often very different from the varietals from which it is created. To craft these wines, he brought on his close friend, Bill Arbios. Over 25 years later, we are still dedicated to Chip’s vision of making unique blends. In this spirit, we have created this exciting blend of Pinot Noir grapes from carefully selected vineyards from the most esteemed corners of Sonoma County, including the Russian River Valley and the Carneros regions, each offering its own unique flavor profiles from its terroir. The select lots of wine were blended to develop complexity and true varietal character, while retaining an approachable, rich fruit style that is genuinely delightful and truly satisfying. The 2009 Lyeth Pinot Noir is supple and juicy with lively flavors of Bing cherry and raspberry, balanced with a hint of earthiness and subtle spice. Rich and crisp with smooth tannins, this wine perfectly complements a roasted rack of lamb or grilled salmon with roasted corn salsa.
