A fresh take on Clos Du Val’s world-class style, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon continues the winery’s tradition of producing truly distinctive wines of balance and elegance while adding a hint of modernity. Its opulent, brooding purple hue is accentuated with aromas of ripe black and red fruit, black pepper and subtle hints of toast. The palate displays a seamless integration of rich flavors which include chocolate, toffee and ripe blackberry. The wine has a rich, full mouthfeel marked by focused, silky tannins and a long, lingering finish. Expect this Cabernet Sauvignon to age gracefully for an additional 5-10 years.
Our Flagship Cabernet Sauvignon hails from our renowned Stags Leap District vineyard, best known for elegant and opulent wines. Deep garnet in color this wine is aged in French oak for 24 months. The wine is full bodied and accented with complex flavors of black fruit, chocolate, and dried herbs.
Clos Du Val winery and its 150 acres of estate vineyards reside in the heart of Napa Valley’s Stags Leap District. The first viticultural area in the United States to be approved based on the distinctiveness of its soils, the Stags Leap District is referred to as a “valley within a valley.” Only three miles long by one mile wide, the appellation’s unique climate and geography produce fruit with exceptional intensity and flavor. Famous for Cabernet Sauvignons that exhibit power and grace, the Stags Leap District first garnered attention for its wines in 1976 when Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars took first place with their Cabernet Sauvignon at the famous Paris Wine Tasting. At a rematch ten years later, the winner was yet another wine from the Stags Leap District: the 1972 Clos Du Val Cabernet Sauvignon.
