The Russian River Valley in Sonoma has a well deserved reputation for pinot noirs with ripe flavors and supple palates.Given to warm days and cool nights, pinot noir here achieves full flavor maturity without becoming overripe. The 2000 vintage gave us a long, even ripening season, creating a wine with luscious cherry fruit flavors and an enticing sense of richness in the mouth.Over twelve months aging in French oak barrels without being pumped, and the gentlest handling enroute to the bottle, has helped preserve subtle character and texture in the wine. While drinking beautifully now,it can support up to five years additional cellaring if desired.
Technical Notes In pursuit of this goal, the winery has adhered to traditional European winemaking practices that trace their lineage back to the early pioneers of winemaking in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Clara Valley. David Bruce Winery has also been at the forefront of efforts to develop innovative new methods that have changed the face of winemaking in California.
