The 2010 CERVANTES Mountain Cuvee is dark and concentrated, with lovely aromas of ripe cherry, berry fruit, cola, cedar and coffee. Supporting notes of sweet oak, anise and cassis add brightness and nuance to the nose. On the palate, this full-bodied wine is packed with radiant tannins, mouth-filling sweet fruit, chocolate and baking spices. Though eminently drinkable now for its flashy youthfulness, 2010 has also produced a cellar-worthy wine that will gain complexity with additional aging.
Wine Maker Notes
This is the wine to choose when you’re looking for vivid, mouth-filling fruit flavors. CERVANTES Mountain Cuvee is a winemaker’s blend that beautifully expresses the distinctive qualities of the traditional Bordeaux varietals, and is crafted for early consumption. Each component making up the cuvee contributes nuances that complement each other. The result is a complex array of aromas and flavors that deliver pure pleasure in a glass.
Though 2010 was one of the coldest years in the history of Chappellet, our experience from four decades of farming and our close relationships with our grower partners paid great dividends. We aggressively thinned early in the season, doing as many as two to three fruit drops. Excellent late-season weather delivered a spectacular finish for the vin- tage. While the harvest was quite compact, the grapes came in showing exceptional richness, good acidity and excellent flavor development.
