Above and beyond its mastery of the distillation process, Maison CAMUS also pays particular attention to the barrels in which its Cognacs are aged. These French oak barrels are toasted to provide a variety of aromas, ranging from a hint of vanilla to roasted coffee. For Ile de Re Double Matured the cellar master uses specific barrels with a higher toast level than the standard to strengthen the Cognac’s smoky, masculine nature. These barrels are also known as ’roux’ barrels.
