Additional Notes The Ile de Re is widely, and justly, considered to be one of France’s most beautiful areas. Its extraordinarily mild climate and fertile soils have prompted humans to cultivate vines for many years. Now home to more than 400 hectares under the Cognac appellation, Ile de Re is the appellation’s most northerly point and yet enjoys the mildest conditions.The nearby ocean is a fabulous temperature regulator, the spray is a source of flavor and the seaweed-rich soil is conducive to natural vine development. All these climactic elements combine to create a Cognac which has truly been sculpted by the ocean.
