Hiram Walker founded Canadian club in 1858. Interestingly, it was originally produced in Detroit but, with prohibition looming, the distillery was relocated to Ontario. Gotta love their new tag line, "Damn right your dad drank it." Dock 57 is an homage to the dock that Bill McCoy (who became known for offering the "real McCoy") smuggled Canadian whisky into the United States during Prohibition. Today, the label graces the lines of ready-to-drink cocktails and flavored whisky offerings of Canadian Club, in this case sweetened with other spices. In the press release, they note to take aim at the spiced rum market directly.
