Beautiful dusty rose color, with red cherry fruit & floral elements, red cassis, subtle fine licorice and focused minerality. The palate is red stone fruit with notes of rose and cola nut with ripe tannins.
The grapes are cultivated from the historical cru vineyard in the Roero district – Valmaggiore –situated on an extremely steep slope of very sandy soil at 885 feet. There’s almost no organic matter in the soil and the vines have to grow deep down for nutrients. The average vine age is 25 years. After destemming and light crushing the must is sealed for 24 hours with CO2 for gentle warm maceration. Fermentation lasts 25 days with gentle maceration in upright open-top steel tanks for the first 7- 9 days. Aged 12 months in neutral 500 liter French oak tonneaux followed by 9 months in bottle.
