90 Points Wine Spectator: Complex, ripe, firm and vivid dark berry, plum and black cherry fruit is elegant and refined, pure and focused, with just the right backbone. Drink now through 2024.
The fruit aromas range from bright cherry to notes of blueberry and black currant. There are intricate hints of vanilla, violets and clove. This wine is pure elegance on the palate. The silkiest of tannins coated by a luch midpalate end with an ever-soft but lingering finish.
Wine Maker Notes
The 2009 vintage brought us extraordinary fruit in the Stags Leap District. A dry spring and a warm year in comparison to the previous two vintages greatly reduced the berry size on our property. The result was a harvest which produced wines of great concentration and depth, power and elegance. The 2007 Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon is a great representative of the breadth of the fruit. It has power and finesse with striking body and generous aromas.
Founded in 1980 and owned by The Terlato family, Chimney Rock produces hand-crafted Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-varietal blends from its estate vineyards in the Stags Leap District. Chimney Rock's winemaker, Elizabeth Vianna produces elegant wines that display the promise of the Stags Leap District terroir. The estate-grown Bordeaux-style red wines are finely structured with supple tannins that make them approachable upon release, but can also be enjoyed following years in the cellar. Chimney Rock's innovative white wine Elevage Blanc stays true to the winery's focus on creating elegant, world-class fine wines.
