Domaine Tournon Shiraz Lady's Lane Vineyard 2009 750ml

Domaine Tournon Shiraz Lady's Lane Vineyard

A deep garnet color, the wine offers aromas and flavors of redcurrant, leather, red crushed berries and hints of toffee. A powerful and generous wine that combines fine acidity with firm tannins.

The Lady’s Lane vineyard is located just north of Heathcote on 500 million year old Cambrian soil. This soil, a red brown gravelly loam over basalt bedrock supports low vigor vine growth and requires no irrigation. This nine acre vineyard sits on well-draining gentle slopes and was planted in 2002. The grapes ripened early and were hand harvested with much care given to avoid over maturation. They were 100% de-stemmed and fermented in concrete tanks. Maceration took place for four to six weeks, during which gentle extraction was performed by pump overs. The wine was aged in 100% French oak barrels with low proportion of new oaks (10%-15%) for 14 months.
