Expressive aromas of fresh papaya and Meyer lemon peel with hints of vanilla and toasted almonds precede full-bodied and lush flavors of ripe pear, green apple and creme brulee. The finish is buoyed by bright and vibrant acidity.
Whole-cluster pressed to barrel, fermented with wild yeasts and aged for 16 months in French oak (40% new), the wine was unfined and gently filtered before bottling.
Barbed Oak Vineyard is perfectly situated on 18 acres in Sonoma County’s Bennett Valley appellation. Matanzas Creek runs right alongside our property, and we neighbor the Sonoma Coast, Russian River and Sonoma Valley growing regions. Our grapes benefit from the warm days and cool nights that produce remarkable Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
