Chateau de Montfaucon Cotes du Rhone Blanc Comtesse Madeleine 2011 750ml

Chateau de Montfaucon Cotes du Rhone Blanc Comtesse Madeleine

Madeleine was the niece of Baron Louis and also my grandmother. I have dedicated this cuvee to her memory also because she did a lot for Montfaucon. Madeleine had a strong personality; she managed the estate by herself for over 60 years. This white wine is made in the same spirit as Baron Louis and with a lot of delicacy. All the grapes (Marsanne, Viognier, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Picpoul) are picked by hand in 20 kg cases and pressed directly. I let the juice settle naturally for ten to twenty hours before racking it into oak barrels where the wine ferments naturally without temperature control. The idea is to respect the natural expression of the vineyard with minimum intervention. The wine ages eight months in barrels before bottling.
