Notes on the Umani Ronchi Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 750ML 2011

Tasting Notes One of the best values in Italy. A new style Montepulciano that is smooth and easy drinking, low acidity, mellow. The color is ruby red with purple reflections.

Wine Maker Notes Alcohol of 12%. The grapes consist of 90% Montepulciano grapes and 10% Sangiovese grapes. From selected grapes grown in the hills of the Abruzzo Region, which abuts the Adriatic Sea just south of the Le Marche Region. Fermentation in steel tanks contact with the skins take place over 10 days followed by malolactic fermentation and then refinement in the bottle for several weeks before releasing.

Food Pairing Perfect with most pasta dishes, meat sauces, and meats, or just quaffing.

Additional Notes Montepulciano d`Abruzzo is one of the most widespread native varieties of Italy, mainly along the Adriatic coast. It is appreciated for its full, mellow qualities due to its low acidity. The production area for this excellent wine stretches along most of the coastal foothills of Abruzzi and back into the mountains along the valley of the Pescara river.
