A very pale silvery/gold color. The wine has a moderately open nose; the ripe apple aroma is tinged with some citrus/grapefruit overtones, and though sappy and with strength, the nose is relatively delicate. Pretty floral notes and a faint hints of smoke and mineral make for a nice bouquet. Good! The mouth follows in the same vein, yet is more out-front. In fact it is fairly rich, with less of the apple and more of the grapefruit pith/zest flavors, and with a rich and lasting mineral taste on the palate. Good. It has good body, is rich, dry, with modest acidity.
Our Sauvignon Blanc is made with selected grapes from the Maipo Valley. Bright straw yellow in color and full of aromas of fresh citrus and ripe pears. Fresh on the palate, with well-balanced acidity and a deliciously fruity finish.
The quality of the wines of Alto Maipo is one of the most consistent it has given Chilean viticulture and indeed, the great ambassador of the national red. An important pillar supporting this quality lies in the composition of their soils are usually defined as medium to low fertility ideal for growing grapes and therefore to obtain wines mature, full-bodied and consistency.
Temperatures are mild, which leads to fruitier wines. The Maipo River has a pronounced climatic influence, which is accentuated in the properties closest to the river, making it appropriate for white varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Its proximity to the Andes allows for the production of very good quality red wines as well, due to the temperatures and poor, shallow, alluvial, stony soils that naturally reduce vine vigor and controls yields.
