The Abruzzo region on the Adriatic coast has been more famous for massive production of wine than for high quality single estates. This is starting to change as smaller growers are making their own wines from old vines with lower yields. Flavours of blackberry and cherry are met by warm spice notes of vanilla and toffee on both palate and nose; the finish is long and fruity and shows real quality.
Hints of smoke, dusty florals and dark berries are well integrated on the palate and pleasantly persistent finish.
The grapes were macerated for 24 hours and then fermented and aged for 20 months in stainless steel tanks.
