Additional Notes Ouzo is an alcoholic beverage produced and widely consumed in Greece. There are several views about the origin of the name. It is believed that the name comes from the phrase ”uso Massalia” meaning ”for use in Massalia”. A company exported a drink in Massalia. The above sentence appeared on the cases of the exportable batch. The phrase became synonymous with good quality of ouzo. The word ”Massalia” was later abandoned and the word uso = ouzo hereinafter characterized the drink.
