A bargain for what it brings to the glass - - if you're patient and allow it to adequately breath.

Definitely benefits from allowing to breath in decanter for an hour. A little lacking in complexity of structure, tannins, and sweeter than higher quality Amarone. Nevertheless, a decent value for sale price, making this a good entry level wine for those who cannot afford the higher quality wines.

Notes on the Fratelli Recchia Ca'Bertoldi Amarone 750ML 2005

Tasting Notes Deep pigeon blood ruby with black reflections and pyrope rim. The bouquet is rich, sweet, and spicy, with brown sugar mingled with berry fruit and sandalwood, and underlying red berry fruit. On the palate it's ample and fairly sweet -- more an ammandorlato than an Amarone -- with moderately intense berry fruit supported by brown sugar sweetness and smooth fairly polished tannins that flow into a clean sweetish finish.

Wine Review On the dark and savory side, this opens with blackberry, prune, chocolate and moist tobacco aromas. It offers ethereal notes of dried herb, cola and licorice that give the wine a lighter, more buoyant personality.
