The 2010 blend is a spicy and fruity wine that has a bright cherry red color and good intensity. It is dominated by aromas of almond, cherry and spices. The nose carries through to the palate, adding graphite and violet notes, with a lengthy, focused and juicy finish.
Wine Maker Notes
Situated on the right bank of the Rhone River, the vineyards are part of the 25 villages where the AOC “Cotes du Rhone” was born. 2010 was a rather traditional vintage in the Rhone Valley. After a fresh and luxuriant spring, a hot and dry summer has brought the grape to a perfect level maturity. Stylistically, 2010 is a classic and serious vintage. The wines are elegant, linear and fruity. The grapes for Cachette are sourced from a vineyard with soil comprised of gravel and pebbles high atop one of the sunny slopes surrounding the castle of Gicon, which dominates the Rhone valley. Sixty percent of the grapes undergo traditional vinification, with twelve days fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel, while ten percent sees carbonic maceration.
