A harmonious and crisp red with notes of wild strawberry, cherry and blueberry that are deftly integrated with juicy and firm tannins on the complex and layered finish.
First released in 2009, Il Chiuso is a blend of Sangiovese and Pinot Noir. The Pinot Noir was harvested from a 10 acre parcel of 27 year old vines located in the San Lorenzo Valley while the Sangiovese was picked from younger estate vines. Each varietal was hand-picked and destemmed and vinified separately in stainless steel tanks with regular pump overs. After 20 days of maceration, the wines were racked into neutral barriques for fermentation and aging. After blending, the wine was returned to barrel for six months.
