The 2009 Barolo Castiglione delivers a radiant but subdued quality with polished notes of dry mineral, black fruit, tar, licorice, leather and many more levels of complexity. This entry-level Barolo demonstrates that great results are achieved in 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.

Notes on the Vietti Barolo Castiglione 750ML 2009

Tasting Notes This full-bodied red offers strong, rich tannins, crisp acidity and marries finesse with balance.

Technical Notes Grapes from estate vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, Monforte, Barolo and Novello were gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel for over 15 days, with daily cap submersion for extraction of flavor and color. The wine aged for 24 months in casks, was blended in stainless steel tanks and then aged for eight months before bottling.

Additional Notes Geographical location of the vineyard: Castiglione FallettoGrape from which it is produced: Nebbiolo Lampia, Michet and Rosè clone.Aging: two years in Slavonian oak barrels and one year in bottle.Aging potential: 4 - 8 years according to the vintage.Organoleptic characteristics:Color: intense ruby red with orange reflections aging, brilliant.Bouquet: rich, ample and elegant, continuous, violet and leather goudron.Taste: complete, austere, elegant.Gastronomy: excellent with roast of red meat and game; typical is brasato cooked with Barolo as well as many rich dishes of the international cooking. Very good accompained with dried fruits or anytime anjoyed by itself.
