The 2011 Sawbuck Cabernet Sauvignon is dense and intense. Black cherry, blueberry, smoky tobacco and mocha are all part of the complex aromas. This full-bodied red is loaded with dark fruits, leather and baking spice. There is a powerful burst of pomegranate seed followed by dense dark jam and firm chalky tannins. Serve this with any grilled red meat or game.
Blackberry, black cherry, vanilla and wood spices precede notes of dusty cocoa powder and rich undertones of ripe dark berries. Deep and firm tannins are balanced by good acidity on the long and pleasant finish.
(75% Cabernet Sauvignon/12% Merlot/7% Syrah/6% Tempranillo). Estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon from the Central Coast is blended with Merlot and Tempranillo as well as Dunnigan Hills Syrah.
CLASSIC SAWBUCKWhen owners John and Lane Giguiere started their first winery in 1983 they were young and enthusiastic with dreams much bigger than their bank account. The first years were financed by credit cards and hope until they felt like they were down to their last sawbuck before R.H. Phillips and Toasted Head became wine brands.About the AppellationSawbuck wines are made from grapes grown in the northern edge of the California wine country; Mendocino and Yolo Counties. Both are unique growing regions that are left of center of the mainstream. Often overlooked, they offer wines of incredible quality at a value price.
