Chene Bleu Chene Bleu Abelard 2007
A very deep ruby color. Ripe blackberry, garrigue, licorice and spice aromas. Intense and concentrated, blackberry, morello cherry and spice; silky tannins bring structure and depth to the wine; elegant and powerful, distinctly masculine.

More dense and structured, yet still vibrant and very pure, the 2007 Abelard is 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah. Loaded with deep blackberry and black cherry fruit, licorice, crushed stone and hints of roasted herbs, it is full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with knockout precision and focus. It is serious stuff and still a baby. Drink it over the coming decade.

Notes on the Chene Bleu Abelard 750ML 2007

Tasting Notes Rich, spicy and meaty aromas with a touch of garrigue precede a lush and bold palate that features notes of blackberry, Morello cherry, and baking spices. Nicely dense with warm, sweet and spicy fruit that is backed by grippy tannins.

Technical Notes (90% Grenache/10% Syrah). The storied romance of Heloise and Abelard is the inspiration for this wine. The grapes were harvested from 45+ year old vines, cold macerated for three days in wood tanks, fermented for 10 days with punch downs, pumps overs and delestage twice a day, then macerated on their skins for four weeks. Aged for 11 months in new and neutral oak, the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered and aged for an additional 3-4 years.
