Sauska Furmint Birsalmas 2009 750ml

Sauska Furmint Birsalmas

Buttery and rich with hints of roasted nuts and vanilla caramel, Sauska's single varietal dry Furmint is undeniably big and oaky, but nicely concentrated on the palate with a bold fruit profile and a bright shower of acidity in the midpalate. Finishes quite long with a whisper of smoke and bitter nut skins -Wine Enthusiast

Furmint is one of the leading domestic grape varieties of Tokaj, Hungary. Sauska’s first single-vineyard, varietal wine produced from the slopes of Birsalmas has revealed itself as a superb expression of Hungary’s unique terroir. Framed by expressive notes of crushed volcanic rock, the long, balanced finish unveils roasted almond and citrus oil flavors on the palate. Serve with the rich cuisine of northern Italy, particularly white truffles. Also excellent with raw shellfish.
