Deep garnet in color, the Five Rivers Merlot leads with aromas of plum, blueberry and tea, accented by touches of cinnamon and vanilla. In the glass, you will find pleasantly smooth tannins with bright pomegranate and red fruit flavors.
Fermented on the skins until it reached zero brix, then gravity drained to press. Fairly intense extraction was accomplished by short pump-overs four times per day. Individual lots were vinified and aged separately in French and American oak for approx. 9 months (18% new), with small amounts of Petite Verdot and Malbec added to enhance the structure and color of the final wine.
