A worthy follow up to the gorgeous 2010, the 2011 Syrah is a 100% Syrah that was aged in a scant 11% new French oak, with the balance being completely neutral barrels. Fermented with 45% whole cluster, it offers up a Northern Rhone-like bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, mineral, violets and underbrush to go with a soft, supple and completely delicious palate. Showing no hard edges, excellent purity and a solid focus, it is more supple and approachable than the 2010 and will delight over the coming 5-6 years. Drink now-2018.
A well-structured red that offers the spiciness and depth associated with Syrah from Walla Walla, this wine presents aromas of dark red cherries and flavors of dates, raspberries and figs with hints of cassis, spices and green olive.
Estate fruit was blended with grapes from Stone Valley Vineyard (20%) and was aged in French oak (11% new).
