Wine Maker Notes
Our Heritage Clones Petite Sirah is named in reference to, and in reverence of, the old clones that make up this wine. Sourced primarily from vineyards in Contra Costa County and Clarksburg, the grapes come from some of the few old plantings of Petite Sirah found in the state. Early settlers originally planted the vines as a blending varietal for other wines, but when we found it, we immediately fell in love. With its inky, dark fruit and tanned leather and spice character, we quickly determined that this unique fruit needed its own bottle. The Sacramento Delta influence and sandy loam soil of this region, combined with the age of the vines, give these grapes deep, rich flavors for a big-shouldered wine.
The elegant interplay of flavors is enjoyable on its own as well as with bold dishes such as grilled meats.
