Evening Land Vineyards Pinot Noir Seven Springs La Source
Evening Land Vineyards Pinot Noir Seven Springs La Source 2011
BOTTLE SIZE: 750ml
Clear ruby-red with tones of purple, the elegant nose dances between fruit aromas of wild berries and fragrant floral layers of lavender, exotic spice with herbaceous undertones of rosemary and tarragon. The complex aromas complement one another and take a few moments to identify. The palate has a fine texture of soft tannins with a purity of flavors and a vibrant core – seamless and elegant with bright cherry and a crushed rock character. The wine has wonderful balance and suppleness that sustain the minerality on the long finish.

Notes on the Evening Land Vineyards Pinot Noir Seven Springs La Source 750ML 2011

Tasting Notes Elegant, layered aromas of dark berries, spices and fragrant florals including rose, lavender, exotic anise, and cinnamon take a few moments to develop. The balanced and supple finish echoes bright and pure flavors of cherries and crushed rock.

Technical Notes The grapes for La Source were harvested from biodynamically farmed Dijon clone vines that were planted along a deep shelf of ancient volcanic rock. The top soils from this part of the vineyard are relatively shallow, between 2-5 feet and contain a high percentage of iron. After cold soaking in open-top oak and concrete fermentors for 4-5 days, the grapes fermented naturally and were punched down twice per day during fermentation. The wine aged for 16 months in French oak barrels (30% new) and was bottled unfiltered and unfined.
