With a depth of dark fruit and fragrant spices, our Rockpile Zinfandel immediately engages the senses. Aromas of white pepper and dried Asian spice weave through deep black fruit layers. Round, full-bodied flavors of boysenberry, Bing cherry and ripe plum coat the mouth. From this cooler vintage, we get vibrant acids and supple tannins that kick in mid-palate, balancing the intense flavors and holding the dark, brooding fruit into a long, lingering finish.
"A wine with shoulders,” explains Winemaker John Kane. "It makes an excellent companion to similarly brazen flavors such as osso bucco, braised short ribs or herb-encrusted rack of lamb.”
