R-Oh Montsant 2010 750ml

R-Oh Montsant

Cornudella de Montsant, surrounded by the Prades and Montsant mountains, is the highest and coolest sub-zone of the region with intense summers and freezing winters. This fresh blend of 60% Garnatxa and 40% Carignan, with just enough oak, is intense, meaty, spicy and vigorous with red fruit and dark spice aromas. It is made from small parcels of vineyards, less than an acre, that are planted on steep hills. The soil is red clay covered with ancient river stones and slate. Only 1,000 cases made.

R-OH* hails from Cornudela de Monsant - it is sourced from old Garnacha and Carignan vines that seduced a hapless Quibian or two and told them to drop everything and make wine - a fresh wine with just enough oak to sail out of the steep rocky hills of Montsant and across the pond to the Americas. The journey was long - it started over two years ago and we expect the first ship to arrive at the end of October 2011 - only 1,000cs made
