Masi Amarone della Valpolicella Mazzano 2007 |
Wine Spectator 94 points - This Amarone offers more savory notes than sweet fruit, with tightly knit flavors of black olive, dried herb and seared mushroom, accented by hints of ground anise and pepper. Delivers depth and length, showing a hint of date on the lasting, minerally finish. Drink now through 2029. From Italy.-A.N..February/2014
Vinous 92 points - The 2007 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Mazzano is quite a bit darker than the Campolongo di Torbe tasted alongside it. Black cherries, plums, graphite, menthol, smoke, licorice and graphite are all very much alive in the glass. Not a wine for the timid, the 2007 Mazzano is positively explosive in the glass, with huge structure and tons of pure intensity. Ideally, it needs another few years in bottle to fully come together. 92+ Points.Antonio Galloni, March/2014
Wine Advocate 96 points - Truly drop-dead gorgeous is the 2007 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Mazzano. I think the 2007 vintage is one of the best expressions of Mazzano ever made. This is a finely elaborate and intriguing vinous creation that shines bright like a piece of classic marble sculpture. There is a subtle gloss and patina to the wine that gives it extra smoothness and silkiness to the touch. Likewise, its aromas of white mineral, spice, blackcurrant and licorice are finely etched and defined. Timeless Mazzano will keep in your cellar for ten years or more..Monica Larner, December/2014
