Great complex aromas of ranier cherries and strawberries laced with anise and a deep wooded pine. The mouthfeel is intense and surprising with a burst of fresh, clean fruit. These layers are perfectly balanced with sweet tannins that complete a densley lingering finish.
Technical Notes We were very excited that the majority of the 2010 Badger Mountain Merlot was from our estate vineyard. Literally in our backyard, we are able to watch the grapes carefully and pick them at the perfect moment. With brix of 23.5 and nearly perfect .58 TA balancing 3.41 pH we harvested the fruit on October 16, 2010. We blended 9% Cabernet Sauvignon from Rivercrest vineyard that was a late pick on November 2, 2010. This adds a mid palate mouth feel that we really like. Both vineyards were fermented in stainless steel tanks, and were aged for 6 months in neutral French oak barrels.
