L'oca Ciuca Brunello Di Montalcino 2006 750ml

L'oca Ciuca Brunello Di Montalcino

93 Points Wine Spectator: Sweet cherry and plum flavors are offset by licorice, spice and a hint of tar in this structured red. This is dense, showing some grain to the muscular tannins, ending with a long, spice-filled aftertaste. Best from 2013 through 2026. 750 cases imported.

Fragrant with notes of black cherry, black raspberry and blackberry, chocolate, violets and leather, superb depth with a palate of dark fruits, rich and round, velvety in the mouth and a long, elegant finish with a hint of sweet vanilla that is delicate and yet quite intense.

Brunello di Montalcino is certainly one of the premier expressions of Sangiovese in all of Italy. Unlike other regions, such as Chianti, Brunello must be produced from 100% Sangiovese, in fact the particular clone referred to as Brunello. The vineyards of Brunello cover a large hillside and can be roughly divided into four regions, though things like age of vines and vinification techniques can easily mask the characteristics of each zone. Brunello is uusally a medium full-bodied wine with both strong acidity and tannins that support leathery, subtly spicy tones of coffee and tobacco that add depth to the classic plum and dark cherry fruits.

You get what you pay for. With there still being '06 and '07 Chianti Riservas available for less, you would be better to purchase them. I bought a case of the L'oca and was disappointed. I expected more body and overall depth and found both to be lacking. I live for a good Brunello and this missed the mark.

Is the wine kept in temperature controlled environment when in transit? If not would you accept an order now and ship it later when the weather is more favorable?
Thank you
