An exceptional example of the appellation! The wine spends time in stainless steel, allowing for a distinctive fruit forward character. The nose exhibits fig, berry, vanilla spice and oak. Very soft and smooth, the flavor veers towards fig and dark fruits with the berry element providing for the acidic counterpoint.
This wine is superb, but it must be given time to breath. I fine it best two hours after opening.
The wine is very fruity and smooth - goes well with ANYTHING or just plain nothing for "happy hour". It was so good I bought another case!
Sandi, seriously was this particular Vino, that good , thanks I just might buy a case...LOL !!!!!
We took a chance and ordered a case because of all the wonderful reviews. We were NOT disappointed. Sorry to see that it is not available right now, because we would have ordered another case of it. Hope it will be available again very, very soon!!! Our friends were impressed as well.
Had it with Thai food and it was silky smooth. I've already ordered more.
My wife loved this low tanin wine. Stongly flavored of cherries. Excellent value. More like a Merlot than a Cabernet.
this wine is great....did not even finish my last case before I order another. what a find. Thanks, Patricia
Nice medium red goes well with steak and ribs. Good price.
A nice, smooth taste that leaves you wanting more. Tastes like a $30 -40 wine--a very good deal.
I agree with RENATO...Hugely disappointing! How anyone can give this wine a "RAVE" review is beyond me. This is my second disappointment with depending on the Wine Chateau review and customer reviews. Neither are close to reality. The St Frances Merlot was just as disappointing. If I can't trust the sellers or buyers reviews I can't trust the wine.
I agree with RENATO! Either Wine Chateau is rigging the reviews, or the reviewers are not very knowledgeable about wines, or both. The overwhelming positive reviews for this wine is a joke! How anyone, with a semblance of a taste bud, could write a "rave review" about this wine is beyond me. This is the second case of wine I have bought from here and in both cases, both the Wine Chateau review and the wine purchasers reviews were 98% positive. The St. Frances Merlot was just as disappointing. Last purchase for me. If I can't trust the web site commentary to be realistic and honest, I can't trust the wine.
Not a wine true to it's namesake (Montepulciano d'Abruzzo); however it's a pleasant tasting wine, fruit foward, soft, with mild tannins. May disappoint true Italian wine drinkers who know their wines. Decent value.
I'am amazed that description from winemaker, was exact reflection of what I'd tested. Absolutely loved, will definitely buy a few more cases!
If you like fruity wines you may be well served with this one, as the enthousiastic other reviews let me assume. If not, like me, you are recommended to check a different one, as this Montepulciano is unusually soft & fruity and does NOT have its typical dry&rich taste.
Wine Chateau shipped the wrong wine, but they did issue a return label immediately when notified of the problem.
I found the wine to be delicious. Not an overpowering wine, but smooth, with limited tannins that is a great wine to share with friends on a regular basis. I ordered a case two weeks ago, and have gone through 6 bottles and found them to be consistent in flavor and quality. For the price point, I would definitely recommend.
Nice wine that is mild, but not distinctive. A good choice for someone who wants a smooth, but not bold wine for an evening glass.
I just ordered 3 more cases. It is a good wine for the price. Actually, nobody among my wine drinking friends has correctly guessed the price yet...except my daughter who has iPhone Price Check Apps!
I bought 6 bottles and am totally delighted. Did not wait for it to breathe but right out of the bottle the wine is soft, has hints of sweetness while still being a mildly dry wine. Would characterize the taste as surprisingly deep and rich, yet remains light. Excellent choice and will definitely buy more!
We like Italian reds and this one surprised us quite a bit. Very nice, fruity and extremely pleasant on the tongue and while going down. None of the punch and heavyness associated with some strong Italians. Somebody who usually does not like red wine will like this one. We immediately ordered a second case. Unbeatable for the price.
This is our second case of the Villa Neri we liked it with chicken as well as we did with steak before. A very smooth, drinkable wine, that is also a great value!
I love this full-bodied, fruity red wine...just ordered a second case.
i agree with all the other great reviews for this wine.
I was disappointed, compared to other Montepulciano d'abruzzo that I've bought from this site for a similar price. Just about OK after several hours breathing, but still not great. Only tried one bottle so far, so maybe I got a bad one? Would rather pay a few $ more for Zaccagnini, one of my favorites after having lived in Abruzzo for a few years and sampled many
just opened a 2nd bottle and it is very good :-) Let's hope there was just one bad one in the case!
Great flavor and value was fantastic...hope to order again.
I bought a case of this because of the fabulous reviews on the site, but what a mistake! I find this wine undrinkable, so look elsewhere. There are far better free ship wines available on this site for just a few dollars more.
Sorry you had an unpleasant experience with this wine Renato. It might be possible that you might have gotten a few bottles that were corked. Please get in touch with customer support and they will be happy to switch the case for you at no extra charge... even for the empty bottles. Cheers!
That's very nice of you. Thank you, Wine Chateau!
Can you buy this wine in the liquor store
Yes, this is available in all Wine Chateau stores as well as you can order this wine right through this website and Wine Chateau will deliver it right to you.
Really enjoy this wine. Bought a case because of the reviews. The bottle shows a 2009 but got the 2010. Don't know about 2009, but 2010 is fantastic. Goes well with a tomato sause dish, but also great with pork or chicken. Love it by itself sitting by the fireplace. Great fruity taste, slight dry when first taste, then has an excelent after taste. Like it so much I ordered another two cases. Just got them today.
Truely enjoy this wine. It has a great fruit flavor that goes great with any tomato sause dish. Well it goes good with everything, or by itself. Slightly dry, with GREAT after taste. Love it. I liked it so much I bought another two cases.
Not sure if my palette is discerning enough to taste the fig, berry vanilla spice and oak, but this is an excellent red at a very reasonable price.
5 stars for the price. A very drinkable wine just perfect for weekday pasta meals.
" Very soft and smooth" is the key part of the description. What a great value!
This wine is perfect for traditonal chinese food. Love it.
Excellent value, great taste. We hope it'll be available for a long time to come. LOVE IT!
I can't agree with the other reviewers. Even after letting this wine breathe for several hours I found it undrinkable. This is not the case with other Italian wines from this region. I was ready to return the rest of the case, but found out I can't ship wine from my state (you must be a distributor to ship wine in this state).
Villa Neri to my taste begins quite sweet in bouquet and taste. By mid bottle the vanilla and fruit mellow and sweetness abates. A bottle a night family we have had Villa Neri on our table with beef, chicken and lamb. I am always eager for value finds like this.
This was CASE #3 that I just purchased. It is by far the best flavor for the price. You won't be disappointed. when it goes on sale again, I will probably be buying my 4th case.
What a great wine! Great with meals or a fine cigar!
My wife and I find this wine to be excellent, good taste, good price, this is our first of Villa Neri ordered the second case Guss M

Technical Notes Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a red Italian wine made from the Montepulciano wine grape in the Abruzzo region of east-central Italy. The wine was classified as Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC) in 1968 with a separate Denominazione di origine controllata e Garantita (DOCG) for wine produced around Teramo established in 1995 and promoted in 2003 (where it is officially called Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane). In addition to Montepulciano, up to 15% Sangiovese is also permitted to be added to the blend. It is typically a dry wine with soft tannins that is often consumed young.
