A magnificent combination of the typical characteristics of the Malbec variety that when pour into the barrels blend with the oak of the barrels and added fruit aromas, plumb, vanilla and chocolate. It becomes a powerful wine in the mouth, with its fruit and wood flavors elegantly harmonized for a perfect balance.
If the list price is 12.97 and "our price" is 15.97 as it says in the version of the ad I got, could you please explain how I'd be saving $3?
Good question, mine says the same, including the order page.
Wine Maker Notes
Aged in 80% new oak for 15 months, it is incredibly dense, with copious amounts of dark fruit braced by mocha and vanilla undertones. Large-scaled yet sophisticated, it is extremely enjoyable now but will reward cellaring for the next decade. A mere 1,200 cases were produced in this inaugural vintage.
Originating from the Bordeaux region of France, this grape is among the "big six" for red wine grapes. However, with the exception of Cahors, its fame and fortune in France often end there, as Malbec is generally a grape used for blending, with very little vine being devoted to its improvement or success. The story in Argentina is quite the opposite. Malbec has found both fame and glory in the sun-drenched climate of Argentina. This is Argentina's signature grape and it is quickly making a new name for itself with red wine lovers.
Definitely a red meat wine that is adaptable enough to stand up to spicy Mexican, Cajun, Indian or Italian fare (especially with tomato-based sauces). Consider giving this Malbec a go with barbecue, chili and sausage.
