Also known as Calabrese, Nero d'Avola has become the most popular grape grown in Sicily, making wines from 100% of the variety rather than blended. Its wines are dark in color, big in fruit flavors, well-suited for oak and able to age for quite a few years, although most are good drinking upon release too. With this particular wine the color is ruby red with a purple nuance. Bouquet of intense fragrance of underwood with touches of sour cherry, rhubarb and hides. Flavor is quite elegant, full and vigorous with a long persistence.
Vignali Roccamora is born from the collaboration between Gian Andrea Tinazzi and Gaetano Alfano: the estate is located in Agrigento and extends on a total surface of 31 hectares (28 ha. of vineyard; 3 ha. of olive trees). The soil of this province are extremely arid and clayey. The Mediterranean climate is warm and dry, but the seas’ influence creates a continuous ventilation. Grapes are selected and hand-picked.
Ideal with rich pasta dishes, roast meat, cold meats and cheeses. Serve at 18°C.
