Nearly floral, with tones of lavender, dried berries, baking chocolate, bacon bits. Aromas are rich, velvety and wonderfully appealing. On the palate, silky round entry with acid to balance with high fruit concentration. The nose leaves no doubt about the seriousness of this wine. The palate is fruit driven both before and after the high tannin middle core. The finish is long, not drying of tannin, and beckons a second sip.
Wine Maker Notes
Conundrum is owned by the Wagner family of Caymus Vineyards, but stands on its own as a separate brand. Charlie Wagner and Jon Bolta share responsibilities of the proprietary wine. In 2007 production expanded into a state-of-the art winery in Monterey County close to the sources of the most grape varietals that make up the wine. We are not able to offer tastings or tours to the public.
