92 Points Wine Enthusiast: A grand Cabernet, richly tannic and dry, that shows off the Von Strasser style. The wine is intense in blackberry, cassis and oak flavors that grow more interesting in the glass. Those tannins are hard, but negotiable now for their fine ripeness.
The wine you have pictured is a blend of various Diamond Mountain AVA vineyards retails for only $40, not $74.99. The $75 version is The Diamond Mountain Estate.
why didn't I see this prior to the purchase. Very disappointing, Your add says reg price 74.99. You just lost a customer
i too am upset. Sent a case to a friend for a Thank You. Invited me over to taste it. Thought i was buying him Diamond Mtn Estate. Embarrassed and bitter toward Wine Chateau!
Wine Maker Notes
Only the darkest, most extracted lots from their estate vineyards are incorporated into the making this wine. The wine displays a deep garnet color with aromas of black cherry, cola and cedar. Flavors of vanilla and sarsaparilla are interwoven with notes white pepper and cassis. The 2008 Estate is dense and brooding with a luscious, slightly sweet finish that lingers on. The wine is much more balanced and complex with 5 to10 years of bottle age.
Rudy's winemaking philosophy centers on the concept that great wines are created in the vineyard and not in the winery. His most important winemaking tool is his palate: his ability to understand and analyze each vineyard’s wine potential through the tasting of the grapes. All of the grapes used in the von Strasser label are picked at their optimum ripeness when the flavors are peaking and the tannins have become ripe and soft.
