Vina Ochagavia Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva 2010 750ml

Vina Ochagavia Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva

Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon is renowned for its intense ruby appearance. Its aromas are reminiscent of raspberries and blueberries, complemented with notes of chocolate, sweet spices and vanilla. On the palate it’s full bodied, highly concentrated with elegant tannins and toasty notes, from the French oak barrels, which are perfectly integrated with the fruit flavours. It’s elegant, powerful and complex.

Tradition and history are the basis for the growth of Viña Ochagavía, the definition of who we are and who we aspire to be. Part of it was the undertaking of Don Silvestre, his vision and ability to innovate. In this spirit, Viña Ochagavía presents its new packaging for all of its lines, a concept of experience and classic elegance. The Gran Reserva line of Viña Ochagavía offers wines that are the result of handpicked grapes carefully selected to create elegant, expressive wines. The concentration of flavors and intensity of their aromas gain complexity during aging in French oak barrels.

Fermentation takes place in temperature controlled (28ºC) stainless steel tanks using selected yeasts. Maceration is carried out after fermentation for 20 days at temperatures between 22ºC and 25ºC and progress is stringently followed with regular tastings. Malolactic fermentation lasts 7 days at temperatures between 18ºC and 20ºC. The wine is aged in one and two year old French and American oak barrels for 12 months before being bottled for 6 months prior to release into the market.

The reason I am giving this a 5 star review is because this is an absolute solid wine for the PRICE. I have had other far better Cabernets but for 9 bucks this is a steal.

Just OK... Not a deep or rich Cab - Good nose, but a lingering alcohol after taste.

May pair well with a nice fatty steak - but not the best sipping wine.

I bought a case a few weeks ago and just opened a bottle tonight. Pour and drank, the nose is good typicl chilean, plenty of berries going on there. First sip, there is nice tannine intermingle with fruits, some tobacco, may be bacon. It is definitely a great value wine. it should drink well for a few years.
I don't know what the reviewer below is talking about as he must be a yellow tail wine supplier, but you just CAN'T compare yellow tail to any wine as I would not serve yellow tail to my dogs (puppies). This wine is not a 5 star wine but sure damn worth the money. Like I say to all my family, everyone's palette is different. Don't be afraid to try this wine.
I like Chilean wines, but I did not like this one, even for $9. It reminded me of YellowTail, which is putrid.
