Pleasant table wine, especially with fish or pasta, inexpensive, mild tannins. Citrus and fruity flavors.
Wine Maker Notes
The wine reflects an artist’s pallet of various varietals that each contributes a unique flavor component to the finished blend. The base of the blend is Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc: Chardonnay provides crisp apple and pear flavors; Sauvignon Blanc provides zesty citrus flavors and an aromatic, floral component. Gewürztraminer as well as a dash of Muscat and Pinot Gris was added for additional complexity and nuance.
Grapes for Defender White were drawn across some of the best growing areas for white grapes, including California’s Central Coast, the Sierra Foothills, and Lodi in the Sacramento River Delta. Grapes from these areas experience warm days and cool nights, and ripen to full maturity with balanced flavors and crispness.
The advantage of a Non-Vintage wine is that it allows the winemaker the most freedom to select the best flavor components across vintages. Our white combines several different vintages of wine in order to create a blend that marries crisp, young intense fruit flavors with more subtle, complex flavors.
