La Consulta’s iconic wine, represents the benchmark among Argentine wines, crafted from the highest quality grapes from small vineyard parcels with low yields. Hand-picked grapes go through a double selection process on a sorting table. Alto is vinified in small, epoxy-lined concrete tanks which allow a gentle, precise vinification and extraction of polyphenols to produce an elegant wine. It is aged 14 months in new French oak barrels and at least 12 months in bottle.

This wine is delicious. We also were concerned about the screw top. Made no difference.

I got the screw top and was concerned, but the taste was as described. Easy to drink and easy to open! A good value for a nice wine

For a Malbec lover this is a great deal. Not much money for a lot of wine!! Let it breathe for an enhanced flavor.

Have to echo Geo. N. on the screw top--- good question BUT the taste was as described in the notes. Better than what was expected for a $7.97 wine. Great color, hardly any tannin after taste, no noticed astringency.

What is the issue over screw top wines ? Its arguably the very best way to seal a bottle of wine.

Product is not as shown -- it is a screw top, not a cork. This is the second time this has happened with wines purchased from your firm. How is it that the bottle is photographed differently than as delivered?

Wine was as described. However, I like my Malbecs on the full body side.
This one, I am sorry to say, did not meet my expectations.

In a mixed case I received 3 Bottles of the 2012. Have just finished the first and placing order for a case. Can't beat this price for taste and value. Could pass for a $20 Malbec.

I am not sure what all the hublaaaa is all about here??
sorry folks.. Bought a case (must admit I was taken in by all the hub-la written here)
Not a bad wine, we do have to consider the price of-cause, but nothing that stands out either I am sorry to say, a bit sharp and somewhat bitter in the after-taste or lingering...
I am going to keep my 11 bottles left for a few years, i am convinced it will change and get a bit more mellow if not a lot more appreciative...
i know it has a screw-top, so what... if you think a wine with a screw-top can not age, you are seriously mistaken..

Hugs

Notes on the La Consulta Malbec 750ML 2012

Technical Notes The most planted grape in that country, varietally-labeled Argentine Malbecs are one of the wine market's great values, prized for their slight herbal component and dark, luscious fruit. Structurally, Argentina's Malbecs are much different than those grown in the grape's native France; they are riper, fruitier and fleshier. In France, the best iterations of Malbec can be found in the Cahors, where it can be quite decadent. It is also planted in the Loire Valley, where it is called Côt and is often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon or Gamay, and in Bordeaux, where it has fallen from favor in many of the region's great blends because it is difficult to grow.
