Up-front perfumed notes of mulberry and plum evolve to hints of mint and leather. The juicy mid-palate is well supported by a firm oak tannin structure and long mineral finish. The Viognier grapes were crushed, pressed and allowed to settle for 2 days at 10 degrees Celsius. The clear juice was then gravity fed to 225 liter French oak barrels and underwent natural ferment to dryness. The wine was aged for 10 months and stirred monthly to encourage the development of mid-palate and length. All red wines underwent MLF and 10 months of ageing in first, second and third fill barrels to ensure good wood/fruit balance.
The farm surrounded by Granite hills looks over the panoramic scenery of the Limietberg Mountains. The terrain, abundant with natural fynbos provides ideal soil and drainage for the growth of the vineyards especially that of the red grape varieties. The area provides plenty of opportunities for quiet strolls around the farm and more ambitious hikes into the hills.
