Briego Tiempo Briego Tiempo Ribera Del Duero Tempranillo Crianza 2009
91 Point Wine Advocate:The 2009 Crianza comes from 20-year-old vines in Penefiel and aged for 14 months in used French and American oak. It has fine delineation on the nose with raspberry preserve and cassis aromas, and hints of incense emerging with time. The palate is smooth and silky with plush dark cherries and plum notes, leading to a svelte, finely focused finish that is caressing and long. This is a lovely wine, a delicious Ribera del Duero. Drink now-2016.

Notes on the Briego Tiempo Ribera Del Duero Tempranillo Crianza 750ML 2009

Tasting Notes Very intense, brilliant deep red colour, with lilac tones in the rim. Well balanced, complex aromas of floral tones, black and red berry jam combined with notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and cumin deriving from the elegant wood. On the palate the wine is subtle, delicate with a warming velvety touch. Delicious mouth-filling fruit.

Technical Notes Bodegas Briego is a family owned Spanish cellar, located in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, which has been producing fine red wines in a traditional style since 1990s. The word Briego, which means “fight,” serves as a symbol for their fight for quality winemaking, the fight to defend the rural life, and in particular, their fight to revive the outlying village of Fompedraza. The project began with the first acquisition of vineyards in the municipalities of Curiel de Duero, Pesquera, Peñafiel and Fompedraza. In 1992, their winemaking ambitions were fulfilled with the production of their first wine under the D.O. Ribera del Duero. The wines are produced from Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), carefully selected to match the different types of wine , Roble, Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva. Bodegas Briego offers a wide range of products from fruity, young wines to high expression wines. The winery has received national and international recognition and awards.
