Tomero Malbec 2014 750ml

Tomero Malbec

93 point Tasting Panel : As solid as they come, the 2014 Tomero Malbec is perky and fine. Could be a fine choice with rotisserie chicken. Medium to dark ruby color; lively red fruit aromas, very good depth and energy; medium bodied, pert and lasting on the palate; dry, medium acidity, well balanced; attractive red fruit flavors, a hint of leather in the background; medium finish.

In the glass, this Malbec is a deep red-purple color with blue reflections. The deep color is reflective of the aromas, intense dark stone fruit reminiscent of candied plum and dried figs is followed by chocolate and vanilla notes imparted by time spent in French oak. A dry entry greets the palate upon first sip, complemented by silky tannins and a juicy mouthfeel. The finish is fresh and persistent, calling for another sip.

The winery was built in the year 2002 on a family farm in the heart of Vistalba (Lujan de Cuyo). The architecture style is "criollo" or Argentine native style. This blends perfectly into the classic Mendoza terroir. Following the heritage of his ancestors and the traditional winemaking that the first Italian and Spanish immigrants brough to Argentina, this is where Carlos Pulenta developed his personal undertaking of blending wines involving members of his family, advisors, enologists, and a highly-esteemed group of people who knew the land well.

I did not like this wine. It was way to fruity and jammy. It tasted like a $10 bottle of wine!
