The 2003 Cornas Les Ruchots exhibits a dense ruby/purple color in addition to a big, rich bouquet of espresso roast, blackberries, plums, licorice, and spice. Aged in small barrels, of which 50% were new, it is a full-bodied, opulent effort displaying a seamless integration of tannin. It will drink well for 10-12 years Robert Parker 91 points (Feb 2006)
Delivers an impressive core of fruit for an ’02, with
lots of blackberry and black cherry framed by olive
paste, mineral and tobacco notes. Round juicy finish
too, without the vintage’s hard edges. Well done.
Drink now through 2010.—J.M. Wine Spectator 90 points (Jun 15 2005)
Rich and briary, with lots of dark bramble, fruit and
toast flavors. Great grip, with dark olive and mineral
notes on the finish. Drink now through 2015.—J.M. Wine Spectator 92 points (Dec 14 2005)
