This barrel selection from the 2007 Vintage comes from Pommard Block 16 on the East Hill of the Shea Vineyard. These vines belonged to Panther Creek Cellars for many years and we began working with them in 2007. Infact, this was one of the very last blocks to be harvested from the Shea Vineyard site in 2007, at the end of October. The Pommard clone is one of the pioneering clones that started the Oregon's wine industry. This clone is known for its spiciness, earthiness and structure and classic pinot noir red and dark red fruit flavors. The Shea Vineyard Pommard Block is reminiscent of a young Barbaresco with its aromas of dried roses, cedar, leather, pipe tobacco and bright red
fruits wrapped in a spicy incense. The wine is tight upon entry and packed with red fruit (currant, lingonberry, red cherry) flavors which gives way to a good broad mouthfeel and long lingering spicy flavors that are wrapped in a
firm frame of acidity and fine-grained tannins. This wine should be drunk between 2012 and 2018.
