The sleeper of the past two vintages, the de Lancellotti Vineyard has gained in energy, intensity and strength without gaining the high-alcohol or over the top quality. In my mind, the de Lancellotti Vineyard can be summed up as the essence of: elegance, ripe dark red fruits, the balance between floral and herbal, a showcase of sweet spice and silky tannin. I am very excited about where this 22-acre Biodynamic vineyard site is heading.
The 2008 offering from the de Lancellotti Vineyard once again only represents 40% of the entire property (as it is a barrel selection from a vineyard selection, like all Bergstrom Single Vineyard wines.)
This wine is Ruby in color and has electric aromas of vibrant raspberries, red-currants, ripe red cherries and a treasure chest of baking and exotic spices. This wine is rich and layered in the mouth with the solid core of red fruits, found in the aromas, echoed in the mouth-feel and framed by sweet clove, cinnamon, licorice, dark chocolate and earthy-notes. The wine finishes with great minerality and sweet tannin. This will be a great wine!
