Tolaini Al Passo I.G.T

Very nice, especially at this incredible bargain price. Rich and silky, there's excellent depth and conccentration to the delicious cherry and strawberry fruit. Finishes long, with fine-grained tannins lingering gently. Not as complex as the fabulous 2006, but still an excellent effort.

Cabreo Il Borgo Toscana

The nose on this is just incredible, showing a beautiful combination of flowers, ripe sweet cherries and spice. Full-bodied, rich and tannic, but very tightly wound and compact. The mid-palate is deep and complex, with multiple layers of intense dark fruit and spice flavor. Doesn't yet show much length on the finish, where the polished tannins are just beginning to integrate. This wine is a work in progress, and has enormous potential. Could eventually be the best Cabreo ever, but will need at least another 3-4 years to get there.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini Brunello Di Montalcino D.O.C.G

A fabulous young Brunello, this has so much going for it. The nose is very complex, showing intense aromas of strawberries, cherries, vanilla, spice and just a little Sangiovese funkiness. On the palate this is full-bodied and beautifully structured. Ripe, sweet fruit and spice flavors supported by a lively acidity lead to a long fruit and mineral-tinged finish, with fine tannins and a hint of oak in the background. Still a bit reserved, this is definitely one for the cellar. In three or four years time - once the secondary characteristics have emerged - this beauty could easily be a 94-95 pointer.

La Braccesca (Antinori) Syrah Cortona Bramasole

On the nose, this wine is absolutely gorgeous, offering a vivid array of intense fruit and spice aromas. On the palate it is full-bodied and quite reminiscent of a Cote-Rotie, but with an unmistakable Tuscan character. The sweet fruit and spice finish just goes on and on. A wine that pleases in every possible way, this has turned out to be one of my all-time favorites.

Pleasantly surprised!

Bennett Family Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

Wasn't expecting much after previous experience with Bennett Family cabernets which I found to be very average at best. However right from the get-go this bottle impressed. Has a very nice nose of fruit and vanilla. On the palate it is round and generous with mouth-coating flavors of plum and cedar leading to a long chocolate-tinged finish. Tannins are very obvious, but subdued and nicely integrated. Very nicely done!
