Pepperwood Grove Cabernet Sauvignon

I was very impressed with this wine. Dark ruby colored, muscular, mild oak, intense notes of vanilla, raspberry and espresso. I think its a nice everyday wine, good price to value and very tasty. The finish is short, which is a drawback, but no bitterness or aftertaste. This is a good price for a case.

St. Francis White Splash

I was pleasantly surprised with this wine. Its a blend of four white grape varieties and the result is a pleasing, aromatic wine with a lemon, pear, and honey taste. This wine would make even the most picky white wine drinkers very happy and have them asking for more. I am giving this wine five stars because of the bang for buck factor. It will be obvious to you from the first sip.

Primal Roots Red Blend

I'm scoring five stars for two reasons. First, this wine was fun to drink. The aroma was so inviting, not floral, more like one specific flower, a violet per se. The taste was like having a dark chocolate covered cherry melt in my mouth. The texture was silky, magnificent even. The second reason for the five stars, the price. At the current price, this is a steal.

Middle Sister Mischief Maker Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine was very approachable, a bit on the sweet side and no oak. The color is light. It has the aroma of berry jam and ripe plums and the taste is jammy. There is no aftertaste at all. The finish is like mocha or a dusty chocolate, very pleasing but not long lasting. I would buy this again.

Bertani Amarone della Valpolicella

This wine was amazing. An intense, fragrant Amarone with characteristics of allspice and cherry cola. I decanted it for an hour and served it with fresh figs covered in honey and chunky Gorgonzola. I am saving my remaining bottles for the first snow fall.

Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles

The Liberty School 2008 is simply delicious. Luscious red berries with a full body and ripe fruit flavor. The color is a deep garnet and it finishes well having no aftertaste.

Bertani Amarone della Valpolicella

There is nothing negative to say about this wine. I decanted it for an hour, and the aromatics were phenomenal, with the scent of dark cherries, flowers and spice. The color was light, and as stated above, deceptively medium bodied. The taste was extraordinary, with black cherry and tobacco followed by silky tannins leaving a black licorice taste on the finish, slightly bitter, however, "amaro" does mean bitter in Italian. There is some heat involved, as the alcohol content, at , is quite high. I served the wine with our home made stuffed meatballs in a candied red sauce. It also went well with the dark chocolate pieces we dove into afterwards.

Bogle Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine is a dark ruby color with a heavy texture. Immediately there is the taste of cherry and a silky almost buttery rhubarb. It is a great Cabernet, and price to value is excellent. The finish is soft tobacco and vanilla with moderate tannin and decent acidity. Drinkable now.

Antinori Sangiovese Santa Cristina Toscana IGT

Santa Cristina Antinori Sangiovese is a medium bodied wine. The color is ruby and the fragrance is more like wild flowers with a berry and herb aroma. The initial palate is cherry, a little tart though, followed by earthy overtones and chewy raisin. I only gave it three stars, because, I have had better vintages from Santa Cristina. Overall it finishes well and as Tuscan wines go, it is affordable at the listed price and perfect for your week day spaghetti and meatballs supper.

R Wines Bitch

For those who are wondering, the label is pink and the enticing name is in black script. It is not the most robust Grenache, however, at this price, its worth grabbing. It is a conversation starter and your friends will have some fun with the name. R Wines reminds us that wine drinking is supposed to be fun and bring people together. The taste is like strawberry jam with spicy berry probably from the heat relative to the alcohol content, . Great to serve with appetizers, like pigs in a blanket, stuffed mushrooms, and eggplant rollatini.

Momo Pinot Noir

I can't say it was horrible, but it was a little young and conflicted. The taste was more like leather and tobacco then cherry cola, and the floral aromatics were too overwhelming. I decide to age my remaining bottles hoping for something exciting to happen in the next few years. It just wasn't Mark West, and just wasn't for me.

Ruffino Il Ducale Toscana

A wonderful wine at an extraordinary price. This wine has a jammy, cherry, silky berry taste followed by aromatic herbs and spices. My wife and I used some in the steak pizzaiola, had a glass while cooking and opened a second bottle for supper. Goes well with hearty sauces and sharp cheeses and will put a smile on everyone's face.

Stickybeak Chardonnay

I am one of those people who gravitates towards wines with interesting names. The name Stickybeak qualifies. The initial taste was yellow pear, white peach, stone fruit and cashew. The finish was long and creamy, like custard. Try it with a grilled tuna steak or pan seared salmon with an orange ginger sauce.

Silver Palm Cabernet Sauvignon

Silver Palm has an interesting by line. What started out as restaurant exclusive, gained much popularity and is now available for individual purchase. This is a great price as well. I opened a bottle for my dad, who compares all cabs to J. Lohr. He was impressed. The wine is dark ruby in color, serious legs, and firm tannis. The taste is cherry tart, mint leaf and full oak flavor. Its more like a Bordeaux than a true North Coast red wine. Its a versatile dinner wine, try it with roast pork with sauerkraut and potatoes or a sirloin burger with pepper jack cheese and bacon.

Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County

I was expecting the vanilla, prominent in the Sebastiani Alexander Valley Cab. In this vintage, the upfront taste is full black berry with a bit of tea leaf, however, the real surprise is the mocha and coconut on the finish. I enjoy trying wines that expand my taste buds. In this instance I was happily surprised. This is a solid price for this wine.

St. Francis Cabernet Sauvignon

St. Francis wines are truly outstanding and have become synonymous with quality and structure ideally expected from high end wines. The Cabernet Sauvignon is a delicate balance between fruit and mineral and offers a bold complexion of flavors guaranteed to put the palate in overdrive. Enjoy this wine decanted and for an interesting cuisine choice, grilled lamb burgers with feta or sauteed veal chunks with tomato and garlic. Don't forget the crusty bread.

Dreaming Tree Crush Red North Coast

This is an awesome wine at a very reasonable price. There is a full berry blast upfront followed by raspberry cobbler and a smoky licorice finish. Completely enjoyable by itself and equally pleasant with a Stromboli or a potatoes and eggs sandwich. Mangia!

Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-A-Vent

This is a robust, flavorful Beaujolais with concentrated fruitiness and hint of dark chocolate. Let it breathe for an hour, its worth the wait. I have tried other Beaujolais' in the past, this one is true to the tasting notes and worth gathering.

Bogle Vineyards Essential Red

This is Phantom without the ferocity of the zin. Essential has just become an essential part of my wine cellar. Fruity, raspberry, caramel and creamy with and a hint of oak. I thought it was delicious and at this price, worth exploring.

Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio

This is the standard by which all other Pinot Grigios are measured. Forget about it, don't waste your money hunting for a cheaper product. Buck up and gather a few bottles for a romantic dinner with the wife. Just get a baby sitter. Full citrus flavors, easy on the taste buds, crisp, clean and refreshing.

Bogle Vineyards Phantom

Get the case, fill the fridge. If you serve this wine to friends it will disappear. There's a lot going on here, complex fruits, berries, spice and oak. It clings to the glass and as expected, has a long spicy finish leaving a hint of cracked pepper on the palate. This is a big, fierce, monster of a wine. Don't be afraid though.

St. Francis Red Splash

This is a pretty good price for this wine. Red Splash is a perfect everyday wine. The taste is like bing cherry, plum and it has a nice spice aroma, like cinnamon and nutmeg, but not overwhelming. Drink with friends and let the Pot Roast simmer awhile.

Simi Cabernet Sauvignon Landslide Vineyard

I simply love Simi, its just a great wine. Landslide is a whole different experience. The upfront taste is a full berry blast, a hint of spice and dark chocolate but not a lot of oak. Its both a conversation wine and a dinner wine and worth every penny. I allowed it to breathe for an hour but probably didn't need to. Buy it for someone you love.

Rocca Dei Bottari Montepulciano D'Abruzzo Riserva D.O.C.G

If you enjoy Italian wines this is a keeper. A true Monte, packed with tobacco, dusty chocolate, black cherry with a wild flower nose. The taste is full bodied and lingers softly with little tannins. It went very well with the veal and pepper sandwiches and chunks of fontinella cheese. I will be gathering more.

J. Lohr Chardonnay Arroyo Vista

I cracked open a few bottles at a party last week and the comments were all positive, even from my friend, a Merryvale fan. It went well with the hickory smoked ham and my mom's tuscan chicken and lemon thyme potatoes. It has a pear and apple taste, a little bit of grapefruit. I served it chilled and it was lip smackingly crisp and refreshing.

J. Lohr Cabernet Sauvignon Seven Oaks

This is a great wine and since its hard to find the 1.50L its a good price. This wine is a real crowd pleaser. It has a wonderful nose, awesome berry taste and no aftertaste. It can stand up to your most hearty dishes and requires no decanting. A fun wine to have around for those who are searching for a serious libation at a decent price.
