Chappellet Cervantes Chardonnay Sonoma Coast

Splendid. Butter balanced with citrus with a long finish that I always search for in high-end Chards and seldom find. This Cervantes isn't high-end, and at this price it's a steal.

Superb red, full mouth feel with a variety of flavors, and a finish that won't stop.

Agricola Punica Montessu Isola dei Nuraghi IGT

Had this with lamb last night and I'm still thinking about it. A silky, many-dimensional wine. Will have again.

Bertani Amarone della Valpolicella

If I could, I'd order several cases of this treasure. I'll have to settle for one or two at a time. A truly magnificent red, worth every penny.

Jean Chartron Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru

Flat, uninteresting fruity white. You and I could do much better. I regret I bought this swill.

Baja Liqueur Rosa

The groveling Technical Notes, below, read like a Maine Chamber of Commerce screed. The Notes are supposed to be about THE DRINK. The drink in THE BOTTLE. All I learned is that their buffoon governor, Paul LePage, has so humiliated the state's citizens that their directional sense is muddled to the point where they can't even market a cordial right. "Baja Rosa," eh? From the Lower 48's northeasternmost state? Whose governor is violently anti-Mexican? (Say, when you think Maine, don't you always think "tequila"? I know I do. With a lobster claw stirrer.) Before long and they'll be touting their cachaca. "Caipirinha, anyone? We call it 'El LePage.'"

Answer to: Where is Apalta?
Lapostolle Clos Apalta

Chile, just northwest of Santa Cruz. Lovely countryside, or at least it was in '98, when I visited Santa Cruz. Sweet people. I remember drinking very good wines there, though of course I don't remember which labels. But the description here sounds just about right.

Answer to: what is the age on this Scotch?
Glenmorangie Scotch Single Malt Signet

According to the Technical Notes below, it's 28 years (18 year old matured for 10 years in Sauterne barrels). It also states that this is Glenmorangie's "oldest" vintage whiskey--probably so, but I could swear they had a 30 year old offering not too very long ago (3-5 years).
