The Bordeaux region of France – the country's largest growing region – can be found along the Gironde estuary on the west coast. The rivers of the region are a key part of the flavor profiles. The right band produces blends with more Merlot, creating a red wine that is bold yet smooth and juicy with subtle tannins. The left bank is what made this region famous. Its blends are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, producing a peppery wine with stronger tannins, higher alcohol content and a higher acidity.

The vast majority of grapes grown here include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The region does, however, produce some white wines. White Bordeaux blends typically include Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon.
